Hi.
I purchased a Bosch built in over, hob and extractor hood from Hirsch at the House and Home show in Durban a few months ago as I was redoing my kitchen.
As I have had good experience with a Bosch fridge and washing machine, I bought the above Bosch products for -R16000. At no time did the Bosch agents or Hirsch saleperson mention that I would have to purchase an extractor kit or carbon filters for the unit. If I had known this, i would have bought the Whirlpool products which were cheaper and just as good, but with a shorter guarantee.
Upon phoning Hirsch today. I was quoted R890 for the recirculating carbon filter. 2 are required and they should be replaced every 12 months.
I feel that I have been let down by the Hirsch saleperson and the Bosch/ Siemans agent by not disclosing the facts in order to get the sale.
I would hate to enquire as to the price of the exhaust kit as numerous items are required.
On e-bay, the filters are available for a fraction of the R1780 quoted to me from Hirsch. This appears to be a rip off unless their pricing is incorrect. The Hirsch spares agent informed me that Defy's filters are cheep, maybe I should have bought Defy.
