Shocking policy re payments for third party users

I just tried to make a private booking through Avis for guests and was quote R1, 400.00 odd for 4 days (18th through 22nd July) for a group B car. When I said I would like to pay in advance for the reservation they said they would have create a "pro-forma invoice" which they would email to me and the price would shoot up to R2, 200.00 and I would have to go to the nearest Avis branch and settle the account there.

I queried the amount and the use of an EFT or credit card facility and the call centre agent said the additional R800 was to create a pro-forma invoice and that it was not their policy to accept an EFT against this invoice! Absolutely shocked at their policy towards accepting payment for third party guests!!

It does not look they are TRYING HARDER to win loyal customers. I've already instructed my travel agent to switch the corporate account for my business.
