One of our technicians was booked to fly to Lanseria from Cape Town, but took ill the week before the flight and was due for a hospital procedure. All the bookings had been done - flights, car and accommodation.
When I make car bookings I NEVER prepay, and for some reason decided to go that route this time. Mistake!
I phoned the call centre to find out the next step and was advised to cancel the booking online as that was how the original booking was made. Forms for a refund were sent; I completed the document, forwarded it to the Refunds Department and 2 days later received confirmation that the refund had been done, and the R300.00 cancellation fee had also been waivered in light of the circumstances. No questions, no proof required - just jolly good old-fashioned 'service with a smile' and a little kindness that means a whole lot.
Needless to say that I am still negotiating with the airline for a refund - much paperwork and proof required!
