I sent my car in to Fury last week to check the steering rack. I signed a form saying they will check other stuff whilst my car is there, including brakes. Alta Strauss called me with a quote of 3500 to replace the manual steering rack. I assumed there was nothing else wrong with the car. I then took my car back home & paid R700 for diagnostics & told them I'll bring it back at a later stage. I brought my car back to them on Tuesday & Tess Bezuidenhout explained to me that my car's steering rack is actually a power steering, not a manual as originally said by Alta. I asked how it is possible to get it wrong because it was diagnosed by them.they admitted that when they put in my vin number on the system it said my car is a manual. So basically that's all they did in terms of diagnosing, which I paid R700 for. To type in my vin number
Then, the part needed was discontinued & Jess Bezuidenhout claimed to have looked "all over Africa" for it but it could not be found so they had to fix the existing steering rack, which was going to cost R8000.Furthermore, she then tells me my brake pads and discs also need replacing!! I then sent an email to the manager & a reconditioned part was found in an hour!
