The car was still under manufacturers warranty at the time of purchase, after driving the car to Johannesburg i picked up a few faults and requested to have them fixed, i was told to take the car to a VW dealer and they would be able to assist as the car was still under warranty. the car was fixed and the manufacturers warranty was about to expire when i realised that I needed to purchase an extended warranty on the vehicle. When i called VW Edenvale they confirmed that the car has an extended warranty and there was no need for me to purchase a new 1.I started enquirying about who was the underwriter so that i could get ahold of a schedule to see whats covered, since Aug 2012 I have not been successful as VW Weiss is unable to assist me.
My car needs attention now and I needed to actually find out who this policy is held with so that they could do a claim and VW Weiss still were not able to assist me. I did not purchase the car with an extended warranty, but the previous owner did so the warranty is still valid as the cover is on the vehicle and not an actual person. VW head office says the extended warranty is with the Innovation Group, they have no record of this.
