I took my car in for a service in April at Renault Northcliff. This was for a 75 000km service. I also asked them to look at a noise the car made. They then advised that it was the fan belt that had to be tightened. On the invoice it said that they did that. When I got the car back everything was fine for a week or two then the sound came back, not as regular as it used to be but it came back. I then went away for a while and when I came back I took the car for a drive with the sound not there. The next day the battery was dead, I then went spend R800 and bought a new battery. Two days after I bought the battery the battery was dead yet again. So then obviously it wasn't a problem with the battery. I called an auto electrician to check any problems with the power supply. Well guess what it was the fan belt. This caused problems with the alternator, He said they didn't tighten the fan belt as they said. he said because of this mess up the fan belt must be replaced. my question is why couldn't they just fix everything like I asked? They probably just want you to come back and spend more money. I also noticed that they don't stamp the service book.
