I received a one-sided and biased e-mail response today from Hertz stating that they will debit my credit card account for R4000 because of a chipped windscreen as I didnt take the R30 tyre and windscreen cover which was NOT offered to me!!! I took a R400 insurance via the internet, why wouldnt I take a R30 cover for tyre and windscreen? According to them they DID offer me the tyre and windscreen cover verbally. Who is witness to that? So, what they are REALLY saying is that their employee is honest and I am a. I signed the necessary documents. Do they expect ALL customers to read the fineprint? It is also their duty to verbally discuss the contract with the customer, especially the insurance details. The letter that my manager sent via their website after the incident was not investigated, and this proves that I am being honest. They will obviously believe their employee as it will suit them to do so. There was actually no investigation conducted, I received the same response as the first one. This is completely unfair and I will not give up until Hertz agrees NOT to debit my account. I will seek legal advice
