Popped in to get my Battery Centre battery checked. Man put it on charge and said he'd give me a loan battery. Very nice, I thought. Once battery was fitted another man emerged and said the manager says I must pay them R50. I pointed out that you don't charge for a loan (otherwise it's a hire unit) but went in to pay nonetheless. When I got to the desk, the manager, Monique, said I must now pay R100. I asked why the price had gone up and why they didn't tell me BEFORE they did the work. She just smiled and said, then I can wait while they take the battery out of my car. I couldn't afford to wait another half hour so paid the R100 and was told to come back tomorrow to collect my battery. This is a very shady method of doing business, driven by either ineptitude or dishonesty. It is a clear violation of consumer law. The public should be aware of such low practices from Battery Centre.
