I bought a Mahindra Bolero 4x4 new in 2007. The first gearbox lasted 68000 km. The second gearbox lasted about the same mileage. The diff stripped towing a Sprite Sport. (The spindle, not the crown wheel.) The tailgate`s welding came undone. The tailgates catches had to be replaced. The clips to which the catches secure tore out of the body. The body cracked next to the tailgate. The body mounting at the driver`s side tore out.
The metal pipes at the diesel pump cracked.
To add to the frustration the spares from Mahindra are exorbitantly high priced.
Overall the design of the vehicle is not up to standard. If you engage 4x4 in a slippery situation, a loud metal on metal bang is heard when the 4x4 engages.
Availability of spares is a frustration and long lead times are quoted.
To get a quote for spares from the Vaal Branch is another mission.
Overall I am not a happy chappy with my Mahindra Bolero 4x4.
