Cape Town Fish Market
Overcooked and Overcharged

I ordered a Surf and Turf, with mashed potatoes, and rare steak. When the food arrived, I got a medium steak and jacket potatoes. When I asked about the mashed potatoes, the waiter walked away, and then came back and told me they don't have mashed potatoes yet, so they decided to give me jacket potatoes instead. What gets me, is the fact that he couldn't come and tell me beforehand and allow me to choose my own alternative side dish. At this point I hadn't realised that my sirloin steak had been cooked to an almost leathery texture. When I realised this, I called the waiter and said I was not happy with the food. He offered to get me a new steak, but I do not trust food that comes back after a complaint. I then told the waiter that I would pay for the calamari, as it was the only thing on my plate that was edible. When the bill arrived, they charged me R50 for a couple of pieces of calamari. This is really unacceptable. Take my advice, avoid CTFM Tygervalley Cape Town.
