Absa allowed transactions on my account 6x in excess of my limit. All the transactions were. As soon as I saw the transactions I notified the bank to reverse them (within the 30 day period)... only to be told that they couldn't do so. Apparently, the that the money was paid to needed to reverse the transaction (go figure, Absa must employ some really bright sparks). I spent the last few months trying to rectify the issue but it was like hitting my head against a wall. The more I tried to resolve this, the more inane the responses from Absa. I have since settled the outstanding amount with Absa as I didn't want my credit record to be affected. However, I will be taking them to the ombudsman as not only did they allow transactions that exceeded the limit on my account, they refused to reverse the transactions when reported. They then had the nerve to say that my email response to them was too long (read detailed!) for them to rectify the issue within 30 days... bunch of illiterates. Please be warned about using Absa as they are unable to protect your cash and are definitely not willing to help you should you fall victim to.
