The 3rd time in the last 2 months in which I have had to cancel my ABSA debit card as someone continues to defrauded my account. ABSA refuses to reimburse me because I have a debit card and "someone" apparently has my acc. no. and pin. ABSA said that they need me to confirm the ID and cell no. of the person who used my card so I can say if I know the number or not. Obviously I do not know the person who used my card. If I did, why would I cancel my card as soon as I saw the SMS purchase notification for the unauthorised transactions. The purchase on my acc. statement shows 2 transactions for MTN EAZI PAY for the amount of R500. When I went into an ABSA branch for a 2nd time, I was informed that the "MTN EAZI PAY" was just a farce and commonly used as a reference for illegal transactions. I have an outstanding credit record and have been a loyal ABSA client since they became the Amalgamated Bank of South Africa.
