Unauthorise debit orde

I just received a phone call from AON, stating that they will debit my account for an insurance policy I opted not to take. I received a quote from them in March, and after back and forth discussions decided not to take it up (policy was supposed to activate 1 May).

I find this totally unacceptable. How can they say that my account will be debited even though I decided not to take up the policy.
