I had an accident on 16 or 17 January 2013. Vehicle was hit buy a truck and it ran away. I claimed from my insurance (FNB Insurance Brokers - underwritten by Zurich). My claim was approved but for body repairs only yet the damage extended to mechanics as well. My power steering immediately stopped working after the Crash. Zurich refused (Neil Marquad's judgement) to repair it. I quote "Mr xxx your vehicle is OLD, with mileage above 200000km's, such mechanics are bound to break and so the damage is not related to the accident but to WEAR AND TEAR." I asked that the vehicle be repaired to be in a position similar to a moment before the accident. His response, "Sir, then I am afraid I will be putting your vehicle in a better position than it was before the accident." All I asked for was that the car be put back to the position it was in before the accident. I have since repaired the Steering rack and I want to be reimbursed by Zurich (R6794.60). They also refused to pay for the Diagnostics test by VW for the Steering an Amount of R786. Stating it was not accident related but they wanted a quote for all damages arising from the accident. Totalling R7580.60.
