I was trying to deposit one hundred rand into my account using the atm when after a couple of minutes of waiting for the transaction to be processed, my card got returned with a slip saying cash jam! you can imagine my shock and horror especially considering this had never happened to me before and i did not have the luxury of being able to lose money and having that not disturb my situation greatly. fortunately enough the security was able to go speak to the remaining workers inside the bank as it was after hours. the woman then told me that it was probably because i used the new hundred rand note! to top that off, i was told, it would take more than 6 working days for the situation to be rectified! now, i am a mere university student with very limited income, i cannot afford to lose any money! the only reason i was even putting that money in my account was because it has had a zero balance for some time and i was afraid the account would be closed! why is it not stated clearly on the atm's if they do not take the new notes? why do i then have to suffer for failure of standard bank to integrate all their systems to the new money? more than the anger they i feel right now is fear!
