I have been a life insurance policy holder of Liberty life since 2006. In February this year I informed them that I am no longer a smoker and asked that my policy be adjusted accordingly. Shortly thereafter in Feb I received an update on my policy confirming my new premium and that the request was processed successfully.
End of Feb the premium stayed the same. I called them in March only to be informed that I was supposed to sign the document reflecting the changes. This was NEVER requested from me, neither was it stipulated on the document. I faxed it to Liberty around the 23rd of March and was informed that the underwriters will contact me for further instructions. I was also assured that my new premium will be effective from the 1st of April. Well the joke was on me. The premium is still the same and my status as non-smoker has not been changed.
Today I was informed by Sizwe at their contact centre that my broker should have contacted me? I NEVER DEALT WITH A BROKER! I dealt with a gentleman from Liberty that left them almost 5 years ago!!! In addition to this I must now first go to a lab for tests (was 1st told that I will have 2 pay) and then only will the policy b changed
