I was 18 when I opened my Woolworths account, which in actual fact makes this null and void. I had told them that I was unemployed, they handed me over without me knowing. imagine my shock when 4 years later, I got a visit for a debt collector, he came to my work and forced me to sign and told me if I don't sign it he will not leave and that will cause a problem for me at work, I told him that I just got my first job and I had not even been there for a month, sign the documents and I will go away - I was 22, what chance do I stand against an older man who intimidates you to get what he wants. in 2008 and was 6166. I agreed to pay 50 a month but now if you look at my account it was 12, 638.79 in June 2012 that means that in 5 years although paying 50 a month my account has more than doubled from interest and from a receipting fee. So for every 50 i was charged 70c Vat, 44.30 interest and 5 receipting fee which is 10% they take for doing a debit order. June I asked that they take 500 debit order and the account was 10, 670 so interest is 141.44 vat is 7 receipting fee is 50. What law allows them to do this? they charge you with enough interest and fees that you cant pay it off
