A purchase I made on my credit card in June was mistakenly allocated to a budget facility. when I received my statement I discovered this - and immediately notified Standard Bank that this was an error as I have never used the budget facility - and also provided proof of payment of the full amount.
In response Standard Bank advised that the budget facility had been cancelled and the finance charges reversed.
However, the next month it was still there - so I again wrote to standard Bank - enclosing proof of payment and my previous notification. I was again advised that this facility had been cancelled - BUT... the next month the budget facility was STILL there as were the finance charges. For the 3rd time I had to contact Standard Bank - who again assured me that the error would be corrected.
Unbelievably the next month - the budget facility was STILL there - AND THE NEXT MONTH!!!
The amount of time I had to waste trying to get Standard Bank to correct this error is staggering, and either Standard Bank staff are grossly incompetent, or they just hoped I would give in and accept these unlawful charges
