Standard Bank
Deceased estate - no assistance on home loan

I own 50% of a sectional title property, the other 50% of which is in the estate of someone who is recently deceased. The bond is with Standard Bank.

On Monday 18th March, I visited Standard Bank Constantia Village with the father of the deceased, to find out from the bank what needed to be done, as the bond payments come from the deceased's now-frozen account.

No one was able to assist specifically with our query at the branch and we were told to contact the call centre via the phone provided at the branch. We proceeded to remain on hold for some time and after finally reaching a call centre agent, were provided with another number to call. The buck kept getting passed for over an hour until the branch was closing and we left, frustrated and no better off than when we came into the branch.

I am extremely disappointed in Standard Bank's lack of effort in helping at this very trying and sad time. You would think that everyone dealing with customer's such as myself would show a bit more sensitivity and willingness to assist, rather than dealing with us like just another number in their queue.

Can someone please arrange to call me on the cellphone number? This is an urgent matter.
