I heard about the Investec Opportunity Income Fund Financial- with a historic 9% yield it seemed like a good investment.
My first experience with Investec was poor service - slow call centre - no -one knowing what they were talking about - certainly not the elite bank they try to market themselves as. Emails take ages to be responded to then the replying doesn't know what he's talking about.
Then the main gripe - The Opportunity Income Fund does not yield anything like it says in the fact sheet. After over a month invested in the fund it has yielded 2.8% p.a on my recent lumpsum investment. This is supposed to be a low risk income producing investment (linked to bonds etc) so don't tell me to be patient. If I wanted to be patient I would invest directly into equities.
To anyone considering investing with Investec I would seriously consider one of the competitors. Sadly I say this as I am a shareholder of Investec as well. Can understand why the likes of Coronation have done so well.
