Standard Bank
Today, Tomorrow, Neve

I have been pushed to breaking point by Standard bank. In July 2011 I applied for a consolidation loan through their consumer assist program. They worked out the amount needed for all debt to be paid & the loan went through. 18 months later I get an abrupt phone call from their lawyers informing me that 'Ive been handed over for one of the accounts that was supposed to be paid through this loan. No section 129 letter was handed to me via reg mail so I was handed over ILLEGALLY. I went into the branch and consumer assist dep admitted that the outstanding account was on the list that needed to be paid under the loan & would investigate. 2 weeks later after no feedback I got into contact with the team leader who for the last month has been giving me different excuses on what they think happened but no EXPLANATION-what are they hiding. They are forcing me to re-apply for this account (with interest) with the threat of summons (ILLEGALLY). The amounts they say was paid differs from my proof and there's R50000 they need to verify as it's gone "missing" somewhere. My next step is the banking Ombudsman, NCR and newspapers. To other consumers, be careful & decide if your money is truly safe
