I am Selina and hold an account with African Bank. I made the loan to make reparations on my house. After a few months I became very indebted due to looking after my grandchildren, paying school fees and medical expenses. I applied for debt review and it was approved by court. After a few months I have been retrenched from my employer only with one month notice. I am since not working because I am 60 and to old to work according to the companies I apply at.
I did sent my retrenchment letter to the debt review company and also to African Bank. They both acknowledged the retrenchment. But currently African Bank keeps on phoning me every day and sending me sms. The little money I receive from the government is hardly enough to pay my rent, water and food. I am struggling to provide for my grandchildren and the stress African Bank put me through is unbearable. How could I pay without an income? Where is the loan insurance they onto your loan to cover you in this cases when you become retrenched? If I phone them to try to explain, they give me more grief and tell me to get money from family to
