I have submitted a claim to ABSA Insurance for a damaged racing bicycle frame and fork more than a week ago and to date have still not received a positive outcome. I have have a loyal ABSA client and have been paying my monthly insurance fees religiously for three years and prior to this, I have never submitted a claim except for geyser damages on the separate bond insurance. My bicycle aluminium seat post and carbon fork cracked when I hit a pot hole and had the aluminium seat post welded just to enable me to continue with light training for the Argus Tour. There is no guarantee on the welded seat post and all bicycle specialist has recommended that it is not safe to do so due to the high risk to injury. I submitted the damage reports to ABSA, but they insisted on using their own salvage company called Green World to conduct a damage report. They concluded that the fork be replaced and that it is safe to continue riding with a damaged frame. Now two days after the Argus Tour, Green World has collected the damaged bicycle and still refuse to authorize the claim. I have had nothing but grief from both ABSA and Green World and they have turned the Argus Tour an unpleasant experience.
