I was involved in a vehicle accident July last year (2012). My car was sent to a panel-beater who promised to fix the car within 9-10 working days. Months passed and many excuses were offered. I got a call to pick up my car in Nov 2012. I had the car for one week and took it back. It made twisting metal sounds and the workmanship was extremely shoddy. The panel-beater informed me that the gearbox mounting bolts were broken. I went to see the gearbox and took photos of what looked like pratley steel putty used as a repair. In desperation I phoned Auto & General (telesure) to beg them to send out an assessor to inspect the damage. After phoning multiple times I was eventually told the vehicle was inspected and all is well. In January this year (2013) I got a call to pick up the car again. However, again the car was a mess. I contacted my insurer who sent out an assessor (Derek). He was shocked at the workmanship, took the car to a different panel-beater and promised me a rental car and a meeting with managers to discuss the issue, but I got nothing.
Now I have been told that they are writing the car off and I do not have a say in the matter. I waited months for this? Useless...
