I have an ABSA bank Savings account, joined with CALL ACCOUNT, only accessible via internet banking. (For savings). 20130202 got call from a private number on my cell phone. Guy told me he is from VODACOM. Problems with incorrect sms's, I must just ignore. Last time I accessed this CALL ACCOUNT, was on the 20130205. On 20130222 I wanted to transfer money from this account and was not allowed. In the transaction log I saw 7 transactions made earlier that morning. Two payments of R5030 each to cleaning services and paint. The other went to Telkom prepaid. The total of these illegal transactions came to the total of R11 060. Went to ABSA Cresta and reported illegal transactions. They suspected and opened a case - reference no 2247713. Cell phone suddenly off. VODACOM Cresta told me sim swop was done earlier. Someone did this to register a new beneficiary and made payments. Investigator contacted me - said it could take 10 -15 working days, said ABSA is NOT liable for any losses. Suggest I contact Ombudsman. How can u access my internet account? Have to type in account no, then pin, then password then register beneficiary. Can u trace the accounts the money went to? Security log?
