Bad banking practices

My partner and I recently submitted a home loan request to the main South African banks through a bond originator.

What we were surprised to find is that FNB will not even look at our home loan request because we do not currently do any existing business with them, even though the purpose of the home loan request was to do business with them!

We where actually fine with adding a clause to the home loan that would require us to switch to FNB as our primary bank provider if the home loan offer was better then the competitors but the response we got was that we have to open up an FNB account and from there FNB will process the home loan request BUT they will not reply with the offer until we switch over all our debit orders to the new FNB account.

We feel this is a disgusting tactic from FNB to strong arm people into switching over to them without any indication of an offer for the actual service we are interested in.
