Problems closing Account

Why is it that these days you can open an Account within 24 hours, but when you request for the account to be closed it takes an establishment (according to the call centre 36 days) but has been a struggle for me since beginning of January 2013 already.

First the account is in credit so they don't want to close it, I either have to go buy something for that amount or I have to proof that the account is in Credit (and they sit with all the documentation as proof ) - they request that I send my banking details, copy of I.D. and letter of authority to close the account. This I e-mail to them about 10 times and after few days when I call they still have not receive the relevant e-mail??? I mean seriously. How many time and effort will it take to get this account closed!!!

After they finally get the request they still hover on the fact that they can't close the account due to the credit, they have to pay it back to me to get the account to zero. This obviously also doesn't happen and at the end of the day I begged them to just keep the Credit to themselves, not to worry to pay it back, JUST CLOSE THE ACCOUNT!!!

I am so angry and dissapointed!!
