Try claiming for a funeral benefit

My father passed away on 22 October 2012 and I have been trying to claim from his funeral benefit since then.
Every time I phone I get told that there is another form to complete or that the certified copies are only valid for 5 months which makes no sense as my mother's Id book is stamped deceased and that is not going to change after 5 months.
Today I decided to phone and find out if there is any other documantation that is needed before I submit again for the fifth time and get told yes, the Decleration by next of kin. Why did the person I spoke to last time not tell me that?
Furthermore after I had submitted the claim the first time, they continued to debit my father's bank account even though they were in posession of the death certificate. (So quick to take your money but make it impossible to claim)
I will now submit all these documents again and if i do not get a satisfactory response I will be left with no choice but to take this up with the ombudsman.
My father had another policy with MS Life which paid out witin 24 hours without all of this hassle.
I will never ever recommend Metropolitan Life to anybody after this experience.
