Standard Bank
Wrongfully deducted my debit orde

Std Bank is suppose to deduct my debit order on the 25th of each month. In Dec however, without asking for permission or letting me know, they deducted it on the 12th. According to their call centre "recorded message" (which I only heard when phoning about this enquiry) they will only deduct your DO early once your salary was paid in. Mine wasn't yet. This is clearly a mistake on their part and caused me to be dishonoured at my bank and pay a penalty fee for the "bounced DO". I visited the UNISA branch for an apology letter stating that it was not my fault and not only were they incompetent in letting me know what was going on (I've been waiting for feedback for a week now) but it seemed that none of the employees knew what I was even talking about. From what I overheard on the phone (the branch employee speaking to the loan department) they were giving me the blame for this situation. To me this is unacceptable as it was not done with permission for the client and according to my contract it can only be deducted on the 25th. Std Bank needs to communicate with clients and work on their feedback!
