End November 2013 I informed Key West branch that a client was paying late and required a temporary increase in my overdraft facility until the 7th December to ensure debit orders would not be returned. Request declined. Home Loan debit order returned incurring a penalty. End of January 2014, faced with another late payment, I tried to access my Access Bond facility to ensure all commitments could be met on time - declined Declined and directed to contact my branch. Consultant informed me that Access Bond had been withdrawn due to the unpaid debit order (the first time in 16 years) and would query reinstatement. Declined. When querying whether Standard Bank should not have informed me of these events I was told that an SMS was sent. Consultant informed me that the SMS had not been sent. In 6 months Standard Bank has decreased my Business overdraft without informing me, withdrawn my Access Bond facility without informing me and taken 3 years to change my postal address. After battling to regain financial stability and finally seeing the elusive light at the end of the tunnel I can thank Standard Bank for extinguishing it with a fire extinguisher just when in reach.
