End of 2012 applied for a building loan. Went into branch to complete application. Somehow home loans changed it to a further loan. It took two more applications before they realized that it was an building loan. Eventually used a bond originator to get it right. Got approval for three quarters of the applied amount with the worst interest rate imaginable. Naturally I declined the offer.

One would think that the bond would revert back to its original state, because I declined the offer, but not with Standard bank. I had to phone the call center numerous times to unblock the home loan account. Just to discover that my access facility was cancelled. Then I had to FICA the account, even that none of my details or address have changed. It took standard bank 4 months to reinstate the access bond. For the last 3-4 years I have been paying R1500 extra into my bond account. Standard bank came back to me and inform me that I have only R5000 available in my access facility. This borderline STEELING!!!

Struggling with Standard bank for more than 8 months, NOT FUN!! Worst Bank in South Africa.
