How can you put a customer on hold for over 30 min

On Tuesday I made a call to the Absa pension fund department. I was put on hold for 15minutes. I asked the lady I was speaking to, to phone me back since I've been put on hold for that long. She agreed but she never did. On Friday I gave them a call again but this time I was put on hold for over 30minutes. Is this the kind of service that people get every single day? All I wanted was to inquire about my funds since its my money that they are with holding. And I expect them to deliver. This is their number 0118463500
