VISA credit cards are not secure

Not an ABSA problem, but please assist. There are serious security issues due to the 3 digit number printed on the back of a VISA credit card and the public need to understand the risks. When I use my card, I need to enter a 4 digit security code. The till operator, however, has full access to my credit card via the internet. All she needs to do is remember my 3 digit code on the back of my card. She is then able to record my name, account number and expiry date and can buy anything on the internet on my VISA card. Surely this 3 digit number is a PIN number and should not be visible? A personal friend has already been.
Yesterday I noticed a till operator turn over my card to read the code and then place the till slip next to the till. When I asked her to put the VISA slip in the slot, she said she would do it later and got very irate when I asked her to do it immediately. I reported this to the manager of the store. I understand that he is not able to watch every till every minute.
This is a VISA problem. If I erase the 3 digit number on the back of my credit card, I will be safe from this but will my credit card still work?
