Forum shopping is the practice adopted by some plaintiffs to have their legal case heard in the court thought most likely to provide a favourable judgment. Some jurisdictions have, for example, become known as "plaintiff-friendly" and so have attracted legal action even when there is little or no connection between the legal issues and the jurisdiction in which they are to be litigated. Nedbank is one of the banks that forum shop in that they obtain default judgments in a JHB court against Cape Town residents who default on their accounts. These incidents should not be reported to the credit ombudsman's Bernie Naidoo or Cynthia Matshiakgotshi because they approve forum shopping, it should be reported to the National Credit Regulator.
