Standard Bank
20% Increase in home loan payment?

My dad took out a Home Loan with Standard Bank in 1994.

From then till now there has never been a problem with regards to payment - 19 years.

To the best of our knowledge whenever there was an increase or decrease in the amount required to be paid via debit order this was done automatically as required.

Now there's suddenly an almost 20% increase in the monthly payment required?

The previous installment was in the region of R2000. The new installment is in the region of R2500. The interest rate has not increased. Why is there suddenly a roughly 20% escalation in the payment required?

Okay fine we accept this and go into a branch on 16 January. According to the branch the account is not in arrears. This is directly against the multiple calls my dad has received along with a letter dated 30/12/2013 which we received on 15 January in the post.

So - my issues simply put :

1 - How is there suddenly a roughly 20% escalation in the repayment amount?
2 - Why was the debit order not automatically adjusted resulting in the account supposedly going into arrears?
3 - How exactly does the system in the branch state that the account is not in arrears and the home loans division says it is
