I sent Mandy Delport at CPUT an email on 25 Jan 2013 and sent it again 29 Jan 2013 and to date no response from her.
My nephew was refused an application form for an NSFAS loan at the helpdesk of the Cape Town campus yesterday. He was asked to produce his acceptance letter first, which he did not have and instead produced his student card. He was told that the student card could easily have been acquired and was turned away empty handed.
He had travelled from Muizenberg and braved the long queues, only to be turned away for such a nonsensical reason. An acceptance letter can be mass produced, a student card has his picture and all relevant details to trace him with. Nowhere does it even stipulate to bring this documentation along when collecting the form.
What is more frustrating, I could not get through to any CT Financial Aid office no's.
I then called Bellville office who was not aware of any such protocol when collecting forms, in fact the lady said you need not even queue, they would issue it directly to you. At Cape Town you can't even get past the security into the office, you have to wait your turn in those long queues, only to be rejected
