When i bought my house, i made a loan application for R650 000, R600 000 for buying the house and R50 000 for the repairs to the house. R600 000 was paid by the bank to the seller of the house, but when i was supposed to get the R50 000 i was told that i should fix the house with my own money and provide the receipts to the bank then i will be refunded. This did not make sense to me as to why would i apply for a loan when i am told to fix from my own pocket and claim from the bank. Anyway i decided to fix the house with my own money and never claimed any money from the bank, to my surprise when look at my bank statement, i see that i am paying back the bank a loan of R650 000. when i call the home loan department to enquire, i was told that the R50 000 has been held by the bank, but they couldn't clarify to me why am i paying back money that i never received, what about the interest that i have been paying back to the bank for money that i didn't get. This is not fair and it's a ripoff. if this is not rectified to my satisfaction, i will move my account to a bank that appreciates it's customers better than Standard Bank
