I took out a policy last year via Edgars. My wife visited a doctor in September with a clot on her leg. She found out that she had varicose veins and was asked when her veins started to trouble her. She indicated that she started to notice it after the birth our child, 5 year earlier. The doctor wrote the patient has complained of severe bilateral varicose veins for 5 years on his report. My wife had to spend 3 days in hospital thereafter due to treatment of the clot. Hollard has now rejected the hospital claim as they state that this was a pre-existing condition and had recorded the reason for rejection as she was being treated for the condition for 5 years! Despite me explaining that this was only diagnosed at the visit, the assessor, did not even call but emailed to state that the claim was still rejected.
Be warned! If the symptoms of an illness starts before the inception date of policy, Hollard does not pay your hospital claim or makes excuses not to pay. The case is now gone back to the doctor for review but the assessor still appears adamant and not willing to listen to the client! Unfortunately poor service at this stage mars the good follow up service received before this
