Can't change debit order date

I have just received my bond from FNB (with no notification that this had been done), and I now want to change my debit order date from 2 March 2013 forward to 25 February 2013. FNB refuses to allow me to change this date even though I am bringing the first payment date forward, effectively forcing me to pay 6 days of interest that I should not need to pay. The call centres say that policy dictates that they cannot change this before the first debit order. How can this be?! It's practically!
