First National Bank
Chip and Pin Gold Cheque Card NOT SAFE!!!

Whilst grocery shopping at Shoprite Arconpark, we ended up at the till and waited patiently whilst the cashier rang up the groceries. She then proceeded to ask for payment when I went ahead and gave her my FNB Gold Cheque Chip and Pin card.
She took the card and pushed it into the paypoint machine utilizing the Chip and pin on the card. She was having some kind of trouble and proceeded to re-insert the card again.By this time I was fully aware that she was going to try and swipe the magnetic strip on my card and I tried to stop her. I was unsuccessful and she went ahead and swiped the magnetic strip on my card. The transaction went through immediately as I was informed by an SMS on my phone.

Never did she ask me for a PIN, only a signature..

FNB said that the transaction went through as if it was a Credit Card transaction and that the Signature on the slip will be verified.

Lets suppose my card got. That would mean that any criminal can buy anything. The money would immediately be taken from my account. Only after verification of the signature would FNB realize the.

I do not call that safe. Never was this product sold to me as being unsafe...
