Incorrect Info given wasting my time

I have a cheque to deposit that is in UK Pounds. I called the Rivonia branch (500m from where I work) this morning to find out if I can deposit the cheque into my account, the costs involved and what I need to bring with. Wanted to make sure I had all my ducks in a row to avoid having to go back and forth to the bank a few times, which I usually need to do because of all the info they need!!!

The lady I spoke to said i could deposit the cheque and said I would just need to bring my ID book. I don't have it with me, so asked if my drivers was OK> No she said, but i asked if a copy of my ID book would suffice. Yes she said. Perfect, I wouldn't need to go home to collect my ID book first as I have a copy of my ID with me.

Get to the bank. GUESS WHAT... they need my original ID book!!! So glad I wasted my time and a phone call getting the wrong information anyway!!! So glad I have 4 accounts with FNB that I have had to RICA at some stage, so they have my ID anyway. So glad we have such competent people working that can give us the correct information the first time. So glad I switched to FNB because my previous bank was also useless.
