We settled our parents home loan at least a year ago, but have not as yet received the title deed. The home loan continually comes up as unpaid as more admin costs are being added to it.

We have contacted FNB in this regard. They told us that obtaining the title deed was done via an attorney. The attorneys appointed by FNB were at a distant, inconvenient location. Our parents are elderly and require us to transport them. We explained this to FNB and asked for an attorney located closer to home. They were inflexible and informed us that that was the only option available. They denied using any other attorneys.

Upon investigation, we discovered that FNB does use another set of attorneys based closer to home. After numerous phone calls asking them to appoint these attorneys, whom they denied existed, they agreed, but told us to appoint these attorneys ourselves and that extra costs would be incurred. When we approached the attorneys with this proposal, they said that they could not help us because they needed confirmation from FNB. This is still not forthcoming. We are now in a catch 22 situation. We want to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
