On the 5th December 2013, one of Santam's clients drove into the back of my Opel Corsa Utility. After having my car assessed by OUTsurance, they concluded that my vehicle is written off and not in a drivable state. The book value of this vehicle is R50 000. As this is my personal and business vehicle, I have been left without transport for the past MONTH! I have phoned the legal department numerous times, I have sent through all the required documents and still no outcome. I was sent an email today saying that "Santam" does not work off the SIAS quotation (done by OUTsurance). Well guess what? Santam better start using the "SIAS" quotation because I can't get another quotation for obvious reasons.. I don't trust Santam to take my vehicle and get it assessed because I've read all the bad feedback about what happened to other 3rd party claims that had their vehicle taken away for months to be assessed. I am a small business owner that needs transport to operate and do my job and make a living. What is the next step for me here? To seek legal advice? To sit without a means of transport and a way to do business? Sort your stuff out Santam!
