Just want to let people know that If they though about leaving there bank and joining FNB, think twice please. My wife moved all her accounts from another bank to FNB a couple of years ago. She has a great credit record and a very good job with one of SA's top 40 companies, she also has a honors degree and is busy completing her Masters. They offered her a platinum cheq account on her credit rating and salary earnings. Why I am telling you all of this is because the bank always want to know all these credentials, which is seemingly important. Yesterday we went to a garage to purchase a vehicle. As we were waiting for the finance applications to be completed the institutions came back one by one with our applications. FNB (Wesbank) which is my wife's only bank came back with the worst offer of them all. Prime at the moment sitting on 8.5% the lowest it has been in years. She was offered 13.9 % by her seemingly we have your best interest at heart bank. That is 5.4% above the prime lending rate. It seems that you are promised the moon and the stars and as soon as they have your business your as just a number to them. I have considered moving to FNB, but I doubt that will happen now.
