On 3 December 2013 I was at home when I received an SMS notification at 18h55 that R1000 cash had been withdrawn from my current account. I immediately checked my purse to find that my Cash/Debit card was safely inside.
I contacted the number which I found on the website and cancelled/stopped the card. I then reported the.
On 5 December I visited the branch on Beyers Naude Drive, handed my card in and watched them destroy it. I was issued a new card.
After numerous calls to follow up on the progress with the investigation I was told on 19 December that my claim had been rejected as "my card was used to withdraw the cash"
Hogwash!!!
The card had NEVER left my possession and nobody else has ever been given my PIN number, not even my daughter who lives with me. When I have used it for purchases I always check to see how the vendor handles it.
The last time I had used it was to withdraw cash at an ABSA ATM on 25 November 2013. There was nothing visible on that ATM that made me think there was a cloning device attached.
I want to know why they are not able to get a photograph of the person making the withdrawal and am happy to take a polygraph test. I want my money returned.
