Archive Bank Statement pricing

I have banked with Standard Bank my entire life, I have 2 HomeLoans, a revolving credit, credit card, cheque account as well as a few PureSave accounts. A lot of money goes through these accounts & my account is in good order.

I contacted the bank as I needed bank statements older than 6 months. I was informed that I would need to pay R20 a page. I asked for a quote and was quoted R1480.00. This to me is total madness & a serious money making scheme. If they email the statements to me, how on earth can they motivate a cost of R1480.

I contacted FNB to find out what they charge - they charge R9.90 per month ie July R9.90.
Absa charge R32 per month. Still acceptable - R192 vs R1480

I contacted the complaints department, to speak to a senior. I spoke to Lani on the 01 Feb 2013 at about 9:00am (for voice recording purposes)

I informed him of my dissatisfaction of their costs and informed him of FNB's costs and he said their policy is non negotiable and that was the end of that. I then informed them that I shall be switching my homeloans, bank accounts etc, so they will be loosing a lot of business.

His attitude was that of I really dont care.

So, Standard has lost a customer!
