My wife went to draw some money from the Standard Bank ATM at the Arconpark Shoprite Centre. She entered her pin as requested, and when after a while nothing happened she pressed the 'Cancel', at which point the ATM informed her that her card is withheld and she must contact her branch. She immediately phoned Standard Bank's number and stopped her card. Back home she phoned them and was told that someone withdrew R1000 from her account, and she was referred to their claims and section to lodge a claim. After more than a week she phoned and was informed that Standard Bank isn't going to refund her because she didn't stopped the card soon enough, as well a load of other technical BS, making it sound like we are the criminals trying to rip them off!! WOW, what a great support and attitude from your own bank you trust with your money and savings! We would like to know if anybody had similar experiences and what advise do you have for us, or who can we contact to get Standard Bank to pull their heads out of their and look after the interests of their clients.
