I have a credit card with African Bank and have made an agreement with them to set their debit order on my account on the 20th day of each month. Today I received an SMS notifying me that they have debited my account without any prior consent from me. Upon enquiring, I spoke to Kgomotso (Ref.10294901) to arrange that this debit order be retracted/reversed since I do not have any available funds on my account. She advised that I should expect confirmation of my request via SMS. I received an SMS from African Bank declining my request. Following up, I spoke to Tumelo Matshaka who informed me that African Bank has made an arrangement with "Banks" to debit accounts today - 13/12/13 (Ref.10295793). How do they know if their clients have available funds in their accounts? To this end, I am being inconvenienced to the extent that my bank (Absa) has been contacting me. Not only is this bad reflection on my account but I have also to bear the extra costs incurred as a result of this. I feel that African Bank should consult with their clients & not with 3rd parties (BANKS) prior to making these arrangements. African Bank should retract their debit order and pay any extra costs incurred
