Refusal to Pay Claim after issuing a Claim Numbe

Hi There,

A Guy n a motorbike did not stop at a stop sign and drove into the front left side of my sons car as he drove past. We contacted outsurance and were issued a claim number and where told that a tow truck was on the way. At this stage we felt happy that outsurance had everything in hand. We were then later told the claim was rejection due to an outstanding payment for the amount of R148.85. I've been a loyal client for years now and have been going through a very rough period following the death of my husband. I called to find out if we could lower the monthly instalments and it was agreed that a pro-rata of R148.85 will be debited and then the instalment of R348.78 will be debited monthly on the 20th from my account. Unfortunately the R148.85 that was debited on the 6th of September was returned due to insufficient funds. I had not received a notification that the payment will be re-debited, just assumed that it would be done with the instalment on the 20th, which went out.
They refused to reconsider and rejected my claim because of R148.85. Anything to avoid paying out! Now we have a damaged car due by no fault of ours and an insurance that's useless!
