Just received my annual review letter. After a claim free year, in which the value of my vehicle has decreased, I have been hit with a 22% increase in my premium. On closer inspection, Auto and General have further changed the cover which this premium pays for by increasing my basic excess by 165%.
I called to query why the Excess had increased so dramatically and the answer was because in order to keep the annual increase "reasonable" (at 22%) they need to lower the cover offered.
Best part is, when i request a new quote (using the Hippo) the Auto and General quote provides me with a cheaper premium and a lower excess than originally. Even so they dont come in at nearly the cheapest.
When I told the call centre lady that I would be forced to look for alternative insurance, she said "ok bye".
Pathetic!
